PDR UPDATES

So here is the PDR starting in the Weipa end (just a reminder because so many have it wrong - PDR is the road between Lakeland and Weipa - not the Tip!).

The start after Weipa was very good, with a very smooth surface.

It later turned a little worse, but not a lot - mostly minor corrugations, pot holes and dust holes.

Myall Creek is all down as one would expect this time of the season.

Archer River likewise, and the Archer River Roadhouse is open until late (they are mostly completely closed during the Wet Season).

Archer to Coen is usually the worst bit but was surprisingly good now.

A few corrugations in the corners, a few dust holes and some rough surface but not much - the worst problem was cattle on the road night time!

Coen to Musgrave is always dusty and was so this time.

Few trucks, some roadwork and some cattle. Still a bit of water in the streams too (but was actually a little more in the Archer to Coen section).

South of Lukin River was some of the worst - corrugations and dust holes.

Musgrave to Hann River is first newly sealed, and then there were some fairly rough corrugations (that got better in the southern parts of that section).

Hann River to Laura was pretty bad with corrugations and dust holes - the southern end of that section was some of the worst of the whole PDR.

LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK IS OPENING

The southern half of Lakefield National Park is opening (with the exception of a few camping sites but by far the most are opening now and the roads through have opened).

The northern side of the park is expected to open in July this year.

There is also a shower facility closure at the Kalpowar Crossing camping ground until about 15. June (which will include some building noise) due to an upgrade.
