Mud Crabbing
There is some great mud
crabbing in Cape York.
As opposed to the freshwater yabbies, mud crabs live in salty or estuarine water.
They make great salads and sandwiches and are very popular to catch in Australia.
There are a lot of good places to catch them in Cape York.
Some of the best spots are Bathurst Head, Lockhart River, Escape River mouth and Sadd Point, and on the west coast around Aurukun, and the coast south of Pormpuraaw and Kowanyama.
Remember that bag limits and minimum sizes apply.

And be careful with their sharp claws.
