Do you offer a hard copy of "Destination Cape York Travel Guide" by Karen Holmsten?

If so, I would be happy to acquire a copy (I realise the price would be higher than $27 for the e-book).

Also would you have a copy of the pocket book as well???

Hi Linda,

Yes you are in the right place :-)

The free Pocket Guide is here.

If you get any problems let me know and i will send you one as an email attachment :-)

The full Destination Guide is only available as an e-book - for a very good reason - a hard copy with the kind and amount of information would be impossible.

Hard copy authors leave the info vague because then they do not need to update it too soon, because to get a book published and printed costs them a lot of money.

With the ebook i can afford making updates any time, so i can keep the info fully detailed - way more detailed than any hard copy book available.

If you go to a bookshop you pay more for a lot less info, you don’t get details such as what actually applies on each camp spot (that changes almost yearly with the native title laws – never mentioned in any hard copy), where do the alcohol restrictions actually apply (some apply outside communities and are tricky, yet we are responsible – again no mention of detail in hard copies), plus a lot of local’s tips on how to spot that crocodile or find that secret swim hole - only to mention a few things – no hard copy authors actually live in here and know such details – they have just done the trip.

Even if you want to go and buy a hard copy (and pay more for less information) - it is still worth having the info of this ebook, even if all you did was to use it during your planning, on the screen, as a supplement for a hard copy, for the fully detailed information.

But ideally you'd print it, put it into a $2 folder, and use it for your planning as well as on the trip.

With all the prices, opening hours and contact details of everything (including accommodation, car mechanics, your closest grocery and bottle shop, hospital, etc, etc, etc..) it is an invaluable source on a Cape York trip - for which the information is a lot more important than the book format!
