Vrylia Point
by: Richard

It's now late June, is there any progress on Vrylia Point?

I' hoping to go there in early Sep 17?

Hi Richard,
by: Katrin

The progress doesn't happen up here the way you might expect, the good thing is - if it did it would not be the place it is :-)

I would recommend subscribe to the newsletters because I will update there as soon as there is anything happening with Vrilya.

hi any news on if its opening this year

Hi Luke,
by: Katrin

Unfortunately not:

http://www.cape-york-australia.com/Cape_York_News-062.html

Because on top of the original reasons for its closure in May 2015, there is now also some mining exploration, chances are slim for its opening during the rest of this year.

P.S. People assume that just because the area is explored for mining, we have lost the whole Vrilya Point forever to a huge mine.

It is not necessarily the case:

- Parts can be mined, other places have been mined with some parts have still been open for camping.

- Before they have completed the exploration it's not even sure they will mine.

- Mining never lasts forever, once it's done places will open again. It is still the Traditional Owner country and at the end of the day they have the word for its opening.
